Mr. Billy Lee Hubbard, age 86 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia passed at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was born in Patrick County on March 8, 1935 to the late George McKinley Hubbard and Bertie West Hubbard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline Cruise, Juel Sewell, Christine Kirk and Louise Sewell; two brothers, Ralph Hubbard and Dayton Hubbard. He served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960, spending 18 months in Germany. He was fond of novels of the old west and good fishing holes, but his passion was wood working. He spent hours crafting furniture and other items with great skill, an artistic eye, and devotion to detail, creating heirlooms his family will treasure. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed dearly.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Wavie Rorrer Hubbard; four children, Shelby Puckett and husband, John of Kernersville, NC, Alan Hubbard and wife, Cathy of Vesta, VA, Laura Rager and husband, Joel of Forest, OH, Sharon Harrell and husband, Mike of Roswell, GA; six grandchildren, Aaron Hubbard and wife, Faith, Caleb Hubbard, John Puckett, Mackenzie Dillon and husband, Gunner, Alexander Puckett, Clay Rager; two great-grandchildren, Kinley and Emma; three sisters, Callie Snead of Floyd, VA, Hope Harris of Meadows of Dan, VA, Beatrice Stovall of Meadows of Dan, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hubbard will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart, VA with Pastor Marcus Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Family Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
