Mr. Cordle Columbus Bowman, 84 of Ararat, Virginia passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bowman was born in Patrick County, on August 22, 1936 to the late Alexander Roosevelt and Linnes Mae Puckett Bowman. Cordle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He was known for his love of trout fishing and raising a garden.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years, Faye Edwards Bowman of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Rita Bowman Cooper and husband Gary of Ararat, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph “Joey” Bowman and Susan of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina, five grandchildren, Michael Andrews of King North Carolina, Dr. Jonathan Mansfield of Charleston, South Carolina, Grace Cooper of Ararat Virginia, Jack Bowman of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Ella Cooper of Ararat Virginia; one sister-in-law, Mary Bowman of Ararat Virginia. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by one sister Maggie Bowman Simpson, three brothers, Conduff Bowman, Calvin Bowman and John Henry Bowman.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM in Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until time of the service at Doe Run Baptist Church.
