Mr. John Thomas Bowman, 74, of Meadows of Dan, passed away early Thursday morning, June 18, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem with his loving wife by his side. Mr. Bowman was born on September 29, 1945 in Patrick County to the late Simon Lee Bowman and Margaret Frances Culler Bowman. Mr. Bowman proudly served our country in the US Army during Vietnam and retired from the City of Danville after many years of dedicated service. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Judy Carolyn Fain Bowman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracey and Ernest Hopkins, and Amanda and Preston Hill; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin and Becky Goins, and Jason Goins; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his sister, Bertha Bowman Thomas; and by three brothers, Vance Turner Bowman, Walter Lee Bowman, Clarence Jefferson Bowman. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 2pm at the Bowman Family Cemetery with Pastor George Lambert and Evangelist Wade Edwards officiating. Mr. Bowman will lie-in-state at the funeral home from Friday afternoon until time of the service Saturday. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home.
