Mrs. Alda Irma Shelor Stanley

Mrs. Alda Irma Shelor Stanley, age 94 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.  She was born in Meadows of Dan on November 5, 1927 to the late Jesse Judson Shelor and Clarice Blackard Shelor.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Ernest Stanley; three brothers, Joe, Paul and James Shelor; and two sisters, Lucille S. Shough and Mary Elizabeth S. Wood.  She was the co-owner/operator of Stanley Chevrolet with her husband for 33 years where she showed love to all her customers and employees.  She was a longtime member of Stuart Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.  She treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her children, often sending care packages and making sure each had whatever they needed.  She loved the Lord and Bible scriptures, and she tried to always show her love for the Lord in every aspect of her life.

          Mrs. Stanley is survived by two sisters-in-law, Glenna C. Shelor of Stuart and Guiwana Compton of Bassett; a brother-in-law, Ledford Stanley and his wife, Carol of Meadows of Dan; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Elaine Hill of Stuart.

          Funeral services for Mrs. Stanley will be held Friday,  February 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church with Rev. Don Shelor officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  There will be no formal visitation.   If desired, memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 921, Stuart, Virginia 24171.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart have been entrusted with the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
