Mrs. Carol C. DeBruhl, age 84 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County, Virginia on August 29, 1936 to the late Johnnie and Edith Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Cooper and Doug Cooper. Mrs. DeBruhl was an alumnus of Hardin Reynolds Memorial School and Radford University. She was an active member of the Hardin Reynolds Alumni Association and Patrick County Retired Teachers Association. She taught first grade at Spencer Penn Elementary School for 32 years. She was an accomplished pianist and played for the Stella Quartet. Carol was a member of Stuart Baptist Church where she was choir director and played piano. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, music, and flowers.
Mrs. DeBruhl is survived by her husband of 62 years, Garry G. DeBruhl of the home; three children, Mark Reagan DeBruhl (Jennifer) of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Christopher Dean DeBruhl of Patrick Springs, Virginia, and Traci DeBruhl Roberson (Joel) of Stuart, Virginia; four grandchildren, Casey Nowlin (Courtney), C.J. DeBruhl, Wesley Roberson, Jordan DeBruhl; a great-grandson, Trae Nowlin; a brother, Buford A. Barbour of Spencer, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Stuart Baptist Church with Pastor Thomas Walker and Pastor Steve Hayes of Stella Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
