Mrs. Darlyne Laverne Clark, age 84 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Patrick County on June 22, 1936 to the late William McKinley Light and Emma Spence Light. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Edward “Dud” Clark, and a brother, Quinton Light. She had been a program assistant with USDA Service Center for 33 years; was the longest living member of Stuart Presbyterian Church, and had volunteered with many community organizations.
Mrs. Clark is survived by two daughters, Linda Jo Hall of Bassett and Susan Clark Wade of Woolwine; one son, William Moir Clark of Stuart; six grandchildren, Christopher Hall, Matthew Hall, Melissa Hall, Terri Mathena, William Wade and Ashley Blessing; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in Stuart Cemetery with Pastor Mary Sue Terry officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1079C Spruce Street, Martinsville, Virginia 24112 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O. 1301, Stuart, Virginia 24112.
