Mrs. Frances Reynolds Clanton, age 80 of Critz, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Patrick County on August 28, 1940 to the late Roosevelt and Ellen Cobb Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Clanton; two grandsons, Roger L. Clanton, Jr., Jonathan Trewayne Clanton; six brothers, Theodore, Oscar, Loir, Moir, David, and Bishop James Reynolds; and a son-in-law, Tommy Tatum. Frances was a longtime member of Mt. Nebo Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as Treasurer. She had worked for Cooper’s Mill for 22 years and for the Blue Ridge Nursing Home for 11 years.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Niecy Clanton of Fayetteville, NC, Roger and Renee Clanton of Critz, James and Jennifer Clanton of Worthington, PA; five daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Winston Reynolds of Ararat, Christine Tatum of Critz, Janet and Richard Penn of Patrick Springs, Vicki Clanton of Critz, Mary and Eric Allen of Walkertown, NC; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one brother, Willie Reynolds of Patrick Springs; two sisters, Thelma Hairston and Virginia Mattox both of Stuart; two special “sons”, Donald Plaster and Robert Goard; a special niece, Mary Lee Hunt; special friend, Carolyn Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Nebo Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery with Pastor Sammy Hagwood officiating.
