Mrs. Lee Ann Ellis Collins, age 74, of Stuart, Virginia completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 18, 2022, at her home. Her loving spirit and kindness for others will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was born in Martinsville, Virginia on February 6, 1947, to the late James Rufus Ellis and Edna Lawrence Ellis of Stuart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Ray Ellis. Lee Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved the Lord and attended Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Lee Ann was a graduate of Hardin Reynolds Memorial School where she graduated at the top of her class. She was involved in many activities but was known for her competitiveness on the basketball court. After high school, she married the love of her life, Billy and began a career of working in various jobs, but none more special than working alongside her soulmate at Collins Tractor Company and on the farm. Lee Ann loved her family, friends, and community. She served in many capacities as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Moorefield Store Volunteer Fire Department. Lee Ann enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, and working with her cows. She was an avid bird watcher and loved being a vital part of her grandchildren’s lives. She had a gift of making others feel welcome in her presence and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Billy Ray Collins of the home; one son, Kevin Ray Collins, and wife, Renee Hylton Collins; one daughter, Amy Collins Fix, and husband, Jason Kelly Fix; two grandchildren, Austin Ray Collins, and MaKayla Lea Fix, all of Stuart, Virginia; one sister, Sharon Ellis Coleman, and husband, John Sanford Coleman, of Monroe, North Carolina; several special nieces and nephews; and a community of friends she adored and cherished dearly.
A Celebration of Life funeral service for Mrs. Collins will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Mike Sands and Elder LaRay Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Stuart, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon and at other times at the home.
