Ms. Annie V. Gunter age 84 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at The Blue Ridge Therapy Connection on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was born in Stokes County on April 9, 1936 to the late Peter Dickerson Varner and Hessie Mae Shelton Varner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her daughter, Karen Walker; and four sisters, Louise Martin, Edna Terrell, Jean Collins, and Lena Hughes. Annie was a faithful member of Peter’s Creek Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for several years. She worked as a nurse at Stuart Hospital and Martinsville Hospital. She enjoyed music, knitting, and crocheting but above all she loved the Lord.
Ms. Gunter is survived by two nephews, David Hughes and Joseph Terrell; two nieces, Linda Hughes and Debbie Oakley; many cousins including, Velmalene Shelton Hylton; and a son-in-law, Steve Walker.
Graveside services will be held in Northview Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 2:00 PM at North View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. Friends may come by Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart from 1 to 5 to pay their respects.
