Ms. Wanda Ayers-Slate, age 69 of Stuart passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on October 9, 1951. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Martin Ayers Hatcher, and a niece, Tammy Mata. Wanda had been a R.N. for Dr. Kastretsios for 20 years and was the owner/operator of Wanda’s Estate and Custom Jewelry for over 30 years. She was a member of Stuart Baptist Church and attended Stuart Presbyterian Church.Surviving are her husband, William N. Thompson, Jr. of the home; a very special great nephew, Tyler Henderson and wife, Shannon; one sister, Mildred Chatham of Myrtle Beach, SC; a nephew, Tony Bowman; and three great nieces, Heaven Leigh Dalton, Savannah Sky Bowman, and Meadow Gabrielle Bowman.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. Friends may come by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart from 12 to 5 PM on Saturday to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stuart Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 944, Stuart, VA 24171.
