A North Carolina man died June 8 after a crash in Meadows of Dan.
Shortly before the incident occurred at 2 p.m., a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on U.S. 58, near its intersection with Big Ivy Lane, according to Virginia State Police Trooper J.M. Hylton.
The motorcycle allegedly crossed the double yellow line in the slight curve, Hylton said the preliminary investigation indicated.
“It appears at this time the bike was on the wrong side of the road,” Hylton said.
A 2006 Nissan Altima sedan traveling east in the opposite lane was struck, Hylton said.
David Michael Garlock, 61, of Mooresville, N.C., was operating the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
Volunteer rescue crews at the scene attempted life-saving measures, Hylton said.
Garlock died at the scene, Hylton said. His body was transported to Moody Funeral Services in Stuart, the trooper added.
Meredith Ann Martin, 21, of Spencer, was operating the sedan, Hylton said.
She was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash, according to the state police.
No charges are pending.
The investigation is continuing.
