The Reynolds Homestead, in partnership with One Family Productions, announced three days of events as part of its 6th annual Bushels and Barrels Local Food Wine and Beer Festival.
Celebrating all things local, the event has grown from a one-day concert to a three-day event featuring a local foods Farm-to-Table dinner, Homebrew Competition, Sustainability Workshop, and the festival event itself, all happening June 14-16.
The event will host a variety of items from around the region including foods, wineries, breweries, arts, crafts, farmers, producers and live music.
The Farm to Table dinner featuring is a new addition this year and includes a beer tasting sponsored by Foothills Brewing.
The Culinary Department at Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) under the direction of Chef Bob Koester, will provide a locally sourced dinner, paired with signature beers from the brewing company. The food used to create this menu is locally sourced from multiple local farms and producers.
The dinner will be limited to 50 participants and is expected to sell out quickly.
Tickets are $35 per person and the three-course meal includes: fresh green salad, a deconstructed grass-fed beef burger served on a bed of local greens, topped with Buffalo Creek crumbled queso cheese and drizzled with a vinaigrette sauce, grilled seasonal vegetables, and finished out with strawberry shortcake.
Foothills Brewing will pair three of their newest beers with each course, and additional beer will be available for purchase.
Add the music of Chris Owens to the evening and this is an event you will not want to miss. Clark Gas & Oil is sponsoring the Farm to Table Dinner.
The event will be held at the Stuart Farmer’s Market pavilion, 301 Chestnut Ave., Stuart.
The festival’s Kickoff Concert will be held Friday night, June 15 at 7 p.m. at the Reynolds Homestead featuring The Kind Thieves and Erin and the Wildfire. At 8 p.m., the winners of the first annual No Business Mountain Homebrew Competition will be announced.
The event on Saturday, June 16th begins with the 5th annual Sustainability Workshop, featuring sessions in Backyard Chickens, Foraging and Cultivating Mushrooms, Creating a Sustainable Landscape, Beginning Homebrewing, and Growing Native Plants in Virginia.
The workshop will run from 8 a.m. until noon. Sponsored by Clark Brothers Company, workshop sessions are $10 each or purchase the full workshop for $30.
At noon, move out to the beautiful Homestead grounds for the Bushels and Barrels Local Food Wine and Beer Festival. The music begins at 12:30 p.m., with Waiting to Exhale, followed by the Hackensaw Boys and Groova Scape.
The largest selection of local Virginia beers will be available as well as wines from Stanburn Winery and Preston Ridge. Several food vendors will be on site and as always, a great selection of local vendors from which to shop.
