The Stokes County Arts Council is pleased to announce the opening of our upcoming exhibit of Original paintings by Elizabeth Shanahan, a new exhibit, is now in the Apple Gallery of the Stokes County Arts Council, located at 500 Main Street Danbury, N.C., through September 15.
Shanahan is a professional artist living in Lewisville, N.C., with her husband, their four-year-old daughter, two rescue dogs and cat. Her work can be viewed on her website, elizabethshanahan.com and her Instagram, @elizabeth.shanahan.
Shanahan works in two-dimensional, mixed media painting. She experiments with different methods of gold leaf, stitching, and mixing painting and drawing techniques.
Throughout her career, Shanahan has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work including a residency at Camac Centre d’Art, Marnay-sur-Seine, France in 2015. Her work was shown from Florida to New York and as far west as Arizona and at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Her other exhibits have included
Spaces Between, a solo exhibition at Blowing Rock Art and History Museum, Blowing Rock, N.C., in 2016,
Descant, a solo exhibition at Looking Glass Gallery, Boone, N.C., in 2015, and Water, Sky, and the Divide, a two-person exhibition with Rebecca Bremer at Nth Degree Gallery, Boone, N.C., in 2016.
Shanahan completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with honors, concentrating in painting and drawing from Appalachian State University and graduated summa cum laude.
The Stokes County Arts Council is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m.
