The Stokes County Arts Council announced a new exhibit, “Nature’s Beauty,” featuring Ilse Watkins, will open in the Apple Gallery in January.
A virtual opening will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. on the Stokes Arts Facebook page, coming to you live from the Apple Gallery. The exhibit is available other times at the Stokes County Arts Council, 500 N. Main Street, Danbury, N.C.
Watkins grew up at the North Sea coast of Germany, where her mother had a photography studio and gift shop. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and graduated in photography in 1984.
Working at a newspaper for the US Army, Watkins met her husband and moved to the States.
She worked on Apple computers until the birth of her son, Spencer, in 2000, and then became a stay-at-home mom. He is now in college, and Watkins spends her time sewing, knitting, quilting and never leaves the house without a camera.
Watkins lives in Clemmons, N.C. and enjoys nature and all critters around her. Her focus is on living green, so 50 percent of her proceeds go to 4ocean.com to support their clean-up efforts.
This exhibit will be on display through January 31 in the Apple Gallery. The Stokes County Arts Council is open to the public Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information about the exhibit, contact the Stokes County Arts Council at (336) 593-8159 or visit www.stokesarts.org.
