The National Night Out will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 1 at DeHart Park in Stuart.
It is sponsored by the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, and includes opportunities to interact with local officers.
Guests will be treated to hot dogs, chips and drinks. The pool also will be open, and live music will be featured in the gazebo.
Patrick authorities join with their state and national counterparts during the community-law enforcement event that has been celebrated since 1984. The event aims to increase awareness about law enforcement programs in communities, such as community or neighborhood watch groups, anti-crime efforts and drug prevention initiatives.
The 2016 event attracted more than 38 million residents in 20,000 U.S. communities.
