Gov. Ralph Northam is tentatively scheduled travel to Patrick County on Friday for a bill signing ceremony.
Northam is expected to sign legislation that will extend the Acute Care License at the local hospital.
The ceremony is slated to take place Friday at the hospital property in Stuart. The time is tentatively set for 2 p.m., according to local officials.
Because the measure includes an emergency clause, it will become law as soon as Northam signs it, State Sen. Bill Stanley, R-Moneta, has said.
The hospital closed in September. Local, state and other officials mounted a concerted effort to extend the license, which will make it easier to market to potential buyers.
