November is the month to remind us to be thankful for the many positive things happening in our life. This November was no different. After the year we all have had, we need to stay positive and count our blessings.
November was full of Zoom meetings and workshops. The Chamber hosted the “Historic Tax Credit” workshop, with participants dialing in from Rural Retreat to Patrick County and up into Roanoke. Using tax credits to rehabilitate buildings for public use is a great way to energize our region. We look forward to the projects growing and coming to fruition from this workshop.
Small Business Saturday was November 28th and the Chamber had been involved promoting the event all month with our local shops. We hope for this holiday season and beyond you will turn more local for your shopping needs.
As we move into December, the Chamber is busy winding down the year. The Chamber is hosting the Festival of Trees this year. Check out all the great pictures and vote for your favorite on our “official entries” Facebook album. We will also be out later this month playing the Secret Santa to 10 lucky winners. And, at last, our community resource guide is at the printers. We hope to have copies by Christmas for people to use and be knowledgeable of all the organizations that offer support and services for our residents.
We will kick off the new year with our membership drive. I hope everyone has valued and appreciated the efforts the Chamber has done this year in providing information. Please consider renewing or joining the Chamber in 2021. We will also be holding our awards banquet in February.
