MADELINE PACK MARSHALL
Madeline Pack Marshall, age 82, of Meadows of Dan, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018, at her home. She was born in Patrick County on November 8, 1936, to the late Robert Pack and Correner Lewis Pack. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Pete” Marshall; a daughter, Susie Borneman; a granddaughter, Emily Borneman; a sister, Dorothy Boyd; and six brothers, Robert, John, William, Carl, Otis, and Elroy Pack. She retired from J. P. Stevens.
Surviving are a daughter, Penny Keith, of Meadows of Dan; two sons, R.L. Marshall, of Meadows of Dan, Gary Pack, of Dugspur; five grandchildren, Brigitte Creech and husband, Larkin, Amanda Borneman, Lee Marshall and wife, Amanda, Josh Keith, Jessi Thomas and husband, Dustin; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Watkins of Vesta; a special nephew, Roger Pack of Mayodan, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 12 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Garland Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Lewis Family Cemetery in Vesta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. IVA RUTH INGRAM SPENCER ROBERTS
Iva Ruth Ingram Spencer Roberts, age 85, joined the Lord on December 5, 2018. She was born in Patrick County on July 10, 1933, to Buren and Nova Spencer Ingram. She was a loyal member of First Christian Church in Stuart. For the last 20 years, she served the Lord faithfully at Friendship Baptist Church in Ararat. Since 2016, she lived at Twelve-Oaks-DePaul Senior Living Community in Mount Airy, N.C., and Hugh Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Elkin, N.C., until her passing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend who will be sorely missed.
Among the many who will always cherish her memory are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason O’Neal Spencer of Mount Airy, N.C., and Harold and Theresa Spencer; and her granddaughter, Jasmine Spencer all of Kernersville; sisters, Ollie Ingram, of Akron, Ohio, Bonnie Ingram, of Columbus, Ohio, and Faye Ingram, of Roanoke; brothers and a sister-in-law, Kermit Lee Ingram, Sammy Ingram, and Ray and Susan Ingram, all of Columbus, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Hazel Strickland, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mabel Richardson, of Astoria, N.Y.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, W. O’Neal Spencer; her second husband, Aaron Roberts; 2 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy, N.C., with the Rev Ronald Speas officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. BERTHA MELBA BLACKARD
Bertha Melba Blackard, age 96, of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at her home. She was born in Patrick County on March 6, 1922, to the late Amos Reed Clifton and Anna Lea Cruise Clifton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Blackard; a daughter-in-law, Linda Jean East Blackard; and six sisters, Nellie Clifton, Minnie Mitchell, Reva Key, Dora Hawkins, Clarice Dempsey, and Elma Hazelwood. She had retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of the Stuart Church of Christ in Dry Pond.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Aaron and Nellie Blackard, of Stuart, Donnie Blackard, of Madison, N.C.; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Nowlin, of Stuart, Cora Hazelwood, of Stuart; and one brother, Thomas Clifton of Ararat, N.C.
