SHARON B. AHL-DOOST
Sharon Kay Bleckley Adl-Doost, age 63, of Stuart, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was born in Washington, D.C., on September 4, 1954, and was a daughter of the late Jasper H. Bleckley and Sarah Kathleen Jenkins Bleckley.
Sharon served the community as a personal care aid working throughout Patrick County. In her spare time, she was known as the “Lunch Lady,” providing entertainment to thousands of fans across the country.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcy Adl-Doost of Stuart; one sister, Sue Ann Bleckley of Stuart; two brothers, Kevin Bleckley (Joanne Rojcewicz) of Sterling and William Bleckley (Beth) of Harrisonburg; three nephews, Max Bleckley, Oliver Bleckley, and Will Bleckley; one niece, Brittany O’Brien; and two great-nieces, Ashland and Kayla.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 10, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with the Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will be private.

WILLIAM T. COLEMAN
William Troy Coleman, age 71, of Galax, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, at his home.
He was born on November 10, 1946, in Carroll County to Troy and Emma Blanche Edwards Coleman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Reta Coleman of Galax; daughters and son-in-law Karen and Richard Easter of Galax and Martha Coleman Bowman of Stuart; sister and brother-in-law Janie and Ronnie Carico of Galax; one grandson, Matthew Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, December 5, in the Monta Vista Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Stanley and Pastor Chuck Edwards officiating.

JANICE H. EATON
Janice Gail Harold Eaton, 69, of Mount Airy, N.C., passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
She was born in Patrick County on January 24, 1948, and was a daughter of the late Banes and Duffie Burks Harold. She was also was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Bailey; and brothers, Douglas, Ewell, and Marvin Harold.
She was retired from Walmart and attended Fancy Gap Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, April Berrier and Chuck of Cana and Angel Eaton of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; grandchildren, Allison Bailey, Madison Berrier, and Britt Berrier; sisters and brother-in-law, Janet Hawks and Garrison of Mount Airy and Aline Harold of Archdale, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 2, at Fancy Gap Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial was in the Harold Family Cemetery.

RICHARD L. KING
Richard Lee King, age 56, of Claudville, passed away at his home on Friday, December 1, 2017.
He was born in Surry County, N.C. to Dorothy Puckett King Bowman and the late Vester Cerbin King. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Gray King; and three sisters, Rebecca Lynn King, Dorothy Marie King, and Frances Dianne King Mabe.
Left to cherish his memory are his fiancée, Brenda Dollyhigh; his children, Jonathan, Joseph, Morgan, and Jordan; stepdaughter, Mikki McCraw; granddaughter, Sunshine King; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Aldy Bowman; two brothers and sister-in-law, Barnell King and special friend Denise Bledsoe, and John and Carol King; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Eddie Holbrook and Donald “Duck” Carter.
Graveside services were held on Monday, December 4, at the King Family Cemetery with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating.
The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Access Home Health from Galax, and especially to his special little nurse, Abby Wood, for all of the love and care during his illness.

CLAUDE N. RORRER
Claude Nash Rorrer, 81, of Martinsville, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Sovah Health-Martinsville.
He was born March 14, 1936, in Critz to the late James V. Rorrer and Eula Spencer Rorrer.
He retired from Martinsville Concrete.
He is survived by his wife, Delora Duncan Rorrer of the home; daughters, Mythianne Rorrer Shelton (Chris) of Bluffton, S.C. and Nicole Rorrer of the home; one brother, John A. Rorrer of Collinsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Thursday, November 30, at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Gladesboro Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery with Pastor JoAnn Bunn officiating.

GERTRUDE M. SNELL
Gertrude Louise Meng Snell, age 94, of Woolwine, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017, peacefully surrounded by her family at home in Patrick County.
She was born in New Britain, Conn., on March 31, 1923, and was a daughter of the late Charles Meng and Gertrude Ellen Magson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Austin Snell Sr.; two daughters, Carolyn Ruth Samson Hyde and Susan Ellen Samson; one stepson, Carroll Austin Snell Jr.; two brothers, Freddie Meng and Raymound Meng; and two sisters, Marion Meng Tassmer and Lois Meng Lockhert. She graduated from Hartford Hospital’s three year RN program in October 1944. She went to work in OB, ER, ICU, and CCU and retired in August 1981 from Martinsville Memorial Hospital. She and her husband built their dream retirement home in Patrick County on the Smith River where they enjoyed nature, gardening, landscaping, reading and crocheting, and traveling together for many years.
She had a great sense of humor, and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be missed greatly but will always live in our hearts until we meet again in heaven.She is survived by three children, Andrew Paul Samson and wife Kathy Quinn Samson of Gales Ferry, Conn., Pollie Elizabeth Samson of Quincey, Fla., and Brenda Kay Snell Pilson and husband James Ralph Pilson Jr. of Woolwine; six grandchildren, Austin Samson of Boston, Mass., Logan Samson, Alyssa Samson of Gales Ferry, Joseph Edward Verran of San Marcos, Tex., Mathew James Verran of Lapeer, Mich., and Holly Jean Conner and husband Bud Conner of Woolwine; three great-grandchildren, Katherine Anne Conner and Jessica Danielle Conner, both of Woolwine, and Nicholas Mathew Verran of Lapeer; one sister, Ruth Martin of Skowhegan, Me., special friends Carol Summer and Jan Wiley; and a host of nieces and nephews.Her body was donated to scientific research at University of Virginia Medical Center at her request. A private service will be held at a later date.

CHRISTIAN V. WILLIAMS
Christian V. Williams, age 87, of Stuart, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at his home.
He was born in Patrick County on March 5, 1930, to the late V.R. Williams and Lowell Conner Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy W. Bowling; and four brothers, Richard, Lane, Dorn, and Billy Williams.
He had served in the U.S. Army and had worked in sawmilling, logging, and cattle farming. He was also co-founder of Williams and Wood Racing; owner of C.V. Williams and Son Trucking Company; and owner/operator of Green Hill Western. He loved horses and spent many years raising and showing them.
He was a member of Stuart Baptist Church.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Carolyn Thompson Williams of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Gary Nowlin of Stuart and Beverly and Richard Joachim of Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodger and Teresa Williams of Stuart; eight grandchildren, Terrence Nowlin, Meredith Nowlin and husband Reed Griffith, Andrew Joachim, Bradley Joachim and fiancée, Lindsey Umsted, Christopher Joachim, Eli Williams, Luke Williams, Levi Williams; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Sue Griffith of Boones Mill, Carol Vernon of Stuart and Sherry and Ron Meng of Madison Heights; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Buddy and Pauline Williams, Mica and Shirley Williams and Gary and Rendy Williams, all of Stuart, Peggy Williams of Port Republic, Md., and Charlene Williams and Dae Williams, both of Stuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, at 2 p.m. at Stuart Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe Pauliks, Robert Belcher and James Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Stuart Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 5 to 7 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
