DOUGLAS COOPER
Douglas Cooper, 85, of Stuart, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart.
He was born on January 21, 1932, to Edith Reynolds Cooper and Johnnie Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Vaughn Cooper; one brother, Leon Cooper; and two grandchildren, Erin and Brooke Cooper.Surviving are one son, Mike Cooper and wife Beverly of Stuart; one sister, Carol DeBruhl and husband Gary of Stuart; one brother, Butch Barbour and wife Myra of Stuart; and one grandson, Dustin Cooper and wife Brooke of Rocky Mount.
He was a member of Stella Christian Church and worked at Appalachian Power Company until his retirement. Doug spent many hours in his woodworking shop making furniture, knives and pictures frames. He could do personalized woodworking and make any design that a customer needed.The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Stella Christian Church with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. CHRISTOPHER D. MULLINS
Christopher D. “Chris” Mullins, 48, of Stuart, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
He was born in Louisville, Ky., on July 18, 1968, to Ronald Mullins and Glenda Young Weiss.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rhonda Barbour.
Other than his parents, Chris is survived by his wife, Stacy Mitchell Mullins; five children, Andrew Mullins, Brooke Mullins, Touchstone (Adam), Briana Grubbs, Alyssa Foltz, Jeffrey Mitchell; two grandsons, Josiah and Ezra Touchstone; his stepfather, Ronald Weiss; one sister, Angie Hodges; grandfather, Pete Mullins; grandmother, Gladys Weiss; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 3, at Compassion Church, 6871 Irisburg Rd., Axton.

LENFORD P. NOONKESTER
Lenford Paige Noonkester, age 87, of Mount Airy, N.C., passed away Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Woltz Hospice Home.
Noonkester was born at “The Hollow” in Patrick County on July 8, 1929, to Elder George W. and Delphia DeHart Noonkester. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Iva Hill; brothers, Dallas Noonkester and Hassell Noonkester; a son-in-law, CW3 David W. Snow; and his stepmother, Bertha Noonkester.
He was a devoted member of Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 48 years and was retired from Mount Airy Furniture Co.
Surviving are his loving wife, Bessie Vass Noonkester; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and David Anderson; and Amy and James Byrd; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Robin Noonkester; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jay and Debbie Noonkester, Michael and Margaret Noonkester and Dwight and Alice Noonkester.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 8, at Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church in Ararat by Elder David Kamoda. Burial was in Skyline Memory Gardens.

JEREMY D. QUESINBERRY
Jeremy Dale Quesinberry, age 40, of Ararat, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017.
He was born in Surry County, N.C., on October 15, 1976, and will always be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his fiancée, Becky Wilson; his children, Jordan Dale Quesinberry and Alexis Haven Quesinberry; his mother, Geralline Quesinberry and fiancé Bruce Smith; his father, Cecil Dale Quesinberry; one sister, Kimberly Quesinberry; nephews, Jared Dylan Branch and Leland Jase Wright; his grandmother, Lannie Guynn; aunts, Hope Nester, Bessie Goins, Pauline Goins and Sally Ayers; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jay Guynn; his paternal grandparents, Kirby and Bessie Quesinberry; and by an uncle, Tommy Quesinberry.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Travis Lloyd and Pastor Harold Smalls.

IDA L. TATUM
Ida Louise Tatum, 81, of Stuart, died Thursday June 8, 2017, at her home.
She was the daughter of Della Hylton and Isacc Glenn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Tatum; three sisters, Georgia Barnwell, Fannie Glenn, and Julia Glenn; and four brothers, Otis Glenn, Ezra Glenn, Cutler Glenn and Edward Glenn
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Vargas and husband Lee, and Bessie Hill and husband Wayne, all of Stuart; one son, Robert Tatum and wife Cathy of Stuart; one sister, Cora Glenn of Stuart; one brother, Sammy Glenn of Critz; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Sunday June 11 at Norris Funeral Services in Stuart with Pastor Willie Reynolds, Pastor Sammy Hagwood and Reverend Leander Reynolds officiating. Burial was in the Tatum Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Stuart.
