JASON F. MOORE
Jason Fredrick Moore, age 40, departed this life on Friday, March 2, 2018, at his home in Charlotte, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on November 8, 1977. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Fred Moore.
Jason graduated from Patrick County High School in 1995. He received a B.S. degree in English and finance from Virginia Tech in 2000. He had a career as a stock broker through Harris Direct/ETrade and later pursued a career in finance with Bank of America as the vice president of finance.
He was an avid reader, often reading two to three books at one time. He had a keen love for literature, art, tropical fish and golfing. He and his fiancé were connoisseurs of fine dining in Charlotte. One of his favorite past-times was reading DC Comics and he was an avid gardener of yellow roses.
He leaves to mourn his loss the following family members: his loving parents, James and Phyllis Moore of Stuart; two brothers, Preston (Ute) Moore of Mons, Belgium and Brandon Moore of Richmond; one sister, Katie Lynn Tolley (Tim) of Roanoke; his loving fiancé, Tyronsa Jackson of Charlotte; nephews, Dion, Zavier, and Gabriel; a niece, Nia; an uncle, Robert (Sandra) Moore; aunts, Linda (Allen) Ludwig, Prestonia (Hampton) Kier, Angela (Michael) Simmons and Deborah (Arthur) Carter; grandmothers Marie Brown of Roanoke and Jeanette Moore Moir of Stuart; and grandfather Preston Brown Sr.; and a host of numerous cousins, friends, and colleagues.
Funeral services for Jason were held Saturday, March 10, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens.

LYLE T. BOWMAN
Lyle Thomas Bowman, 76, of Westfield, N.C., passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on November 28, 1941, to the late Gaston and Glennis Quesinberry Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Karen Inman Bowman; and a daughter, Stephanie Bowman.
He was retired from Pine State Knitwear. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his family and many friends.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley Bowman Senter and Roy of Mount Airy, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Celia Bowman and Nathan and Tina Bowman, all of Westfield; stepsons, Denny and Tammy Simmons of Lowgap, N.C., and Todd Cecil of Mississippi; seven grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; six stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Julia Shelton and Janet and Dillard Nester; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Lillian Bowman, Gary and Lunell Bowman, Mitchell and Chris Bowman, Phillip and Maxine Bowman and Ronnie and Debbie Bowman; many special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Kilby officiating. Burial will follow in Woodville Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.

BEADIE C. JARRETT
Beadie Elsie Custer Jarrett, 89, of Martinsville, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family on March 10, 2018.
She was born in Patrick County on August 29, 1928, and was a daughter of the late Charles Jackson Custer and Lucy Ann Martin Custer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Jarrett; her brothers, Roy Custer, Ralph Custer and Sanford Custer; and her sister, Hallie Kendrick.
She is survived by her son, Mark A. Jarrett and his wife Ginny of Reidsville, N.C.; her stepsons, Bobby Ray Jarrett and his wife Wilma of Fredericksburg and Bill Jarrett of Greensboro N.C.; grandchildren, Kaleb Jarrett and Amanda Hatcher; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Emma and Greyson; stepgrandchildren, David Jarrett, Chris Jarrett, Jim Jarrett and Jeff Jarrett; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Maggie, Sam, Ella, Allison, Allyssa, Lindsey, Julien and Wesley.
She retired from Bassett-Walker as a machine operator. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Patrick County.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, March 13 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett with Minister Tom Warren officiating.
JANICE S. JONES
Janice Simmons Jones, age 91, of Mount Airy, N.C., passed away at her home on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
She was born January 12, 1927, in Surry County, N.C., the daughter of the late Chester (Check) and Agnes Culbreth Simmons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hassell Jones; a son, Stephen Bolen; two sisters, Evelyn Roberts and Louise Silvers; and a son-in-law, Michael McKinney.
She was retired from Perry Manufacturing Company and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Robin J. McKinney of Mount Airy and Marie J. and James (Jim) Guynn of Ararat; three grandchildren, Derrick Guynn and Kimberly Guynn, both of Ararat, and Taron McKinney of Mount Airy; one great-grandson, Grayson Guynn of Ararat; and her beloved cats, Chester and Magic.
All services were private.

JAMES R. MARTIN
James Robert “J.R.” Martin, age 29, of Patrick Springs, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
He was born in Roanoke on December 7, 1988.
J.R. was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Dent Martin; a sister, Laurie Ann Reynolds; his paternal grandparents, Randolph and Annie Martin; and his maternal grandparents, James Dent and Dorothy Simpson.
He was a 2007 graduate of Patrick County High School and attended Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, Jacob Martin of Patrick Springs; his father, Clinton D. Martin of Patrick Springs; one sister, Tracy Martin and fiancé Billy Brooks of Stanleytown; one brother, Danny Martin of Bassett; six nieces and nephews; and numerous other family members.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Martin Family Cemetery in Patrick Springs.

WILLIAM M. PRITT SR.
William Massie “Buddy” Pritt Sr., age 77, of Spencer, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at Martinsville Health and Rehab.
He was born on July 31, 1940, in Bath County to the late Charles Pritt and Mary Frances Shaffier Pritt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Pritt.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Pritt of Buchanon; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Areica Pritt of Spencer; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Jeffrey Minnick of Martinsville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three half siblings, Becky, Nancy, and Tommy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Manuel Jessup officiating. Burial will be private.

BONNIE M. PULLIAM
Bonnie Marie Pulliam, 67, of Roanoke and formerly of Martinsville, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Patrick County.
She was born September 28, 1950, to the late Paul Pulliam and Edna Nolen Pulliam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Glenda Faye Pulliam and Beth Pulliam Wilbourne; and brother-in-law, Tom Clark.
She was a graduate of William and Mary and retired from Norfolk Southern.
She is survived by her sister, Cathy Pulliam Clark of Hillsville; and a nephew, Christopher Clark of Raleigh, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Sandy Wright officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Frances Mae Dillon Richardson, 80, of Patrick Springs, passed
away March 4, 2018, at her home.
She was born on June 17, 1937, in Critz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and she liked flowers,
especially roses. She was a member of County Line Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Richardson; sisters, Lee Plaster, Bessie Turner, Shirley Roark, and Evelyn Rakes (Leo); one granddaughter, Jessica Richardson; and one great-grandchild, Alex Kumpston.

Church of God of Prophecy with Pastors Rick Anderson and Jason Callahan officiating. Burial was in County Line Church of God of Prophecy cemetery.

SCOTT H. WADE
Scott Harter Wade, 53, died Sunday, March 11, 2018.
He was born November 24, 1964, in Martinsville. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles H. and Louise U. Wade, who lived in Albuquerque, N.M.; and William D. and Leone S. Price, who lived in Martinsville.
He graduated from Martinsville High School, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 264. He spent four years in the
United States Navy, mostly aboard the USS Mt. Baker. He worked as a
welder and in maintenance until he became disabled.
He is survived by his parents, Charles M. and Sondra P. Wade of Avon Park, Fla. and Woolwine; one brother, Kelly D. Wade of Raleigh, N.C.; and his fiancée’ and caregiver, Leashia Rivers of Martinsville.
A memorial service with military honors will be held in April with the date to be set later.

JERRY L. WALLER
Jerry Leon Waller, 76, of Patrick Springs, died on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.
He was the son of the late Florence Bratton and Robert Waller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Jones; and a brother, Robert Carl Waller.
He was of the Christian faith and worked as a machinist at Virginia Narrow Fabric in Woolwine. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Gregg Waller of the home; one stepdaughter, Sherri Cox and husband Monty of Lexington, N.C.; one stepson, Eric McMahan and wife Darla of Southmont, N.C.; three stepgrandchildren, Kathy Cohan, Zack McMahan and Jonathan McMahan; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Jazmyn Cohan, Ariel Cohan, Brody McMahan and Able Leftwich; his first wife, Juanita Kallam; one daughter, Kay Kendrick and husband Danny of Ruffin, N.C.; two sons, Jerry Waller Jr. of Florida and Micahel Waller of Ruffin; one sister, Peggy Collins of Level Cross, N.C.; two grandchildren, Dawn James and Emily Hazelwood; two great-grandchildren, Bryson Hazelwood and Callie Hazelwood; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home of Frances Waller at 81 Dillon Lane, Patrick Springs, on Saturday, March 17 at noon.
