NICHOLAS KING EPPERSON
Nicholas King Epperson, age 86, of Ararat, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018, at Ridgecrest Retirement. He was born in Patrick County on December 13, 1931, to William Forrester and Hattie Mae King Epperson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Hill Epperson; a sister, Elizabeth Stanfield and his brother, W. F. Epperson, Jr.
He proudly served our country in the United States Army and Air Force during the Korean War. He was co-owner of Virginia-Carolina Paving and Grading Co. and Gateway Paving and Grading Co. He was instrumental in assisting in his community and was a charter member of the Ararat Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church.
Among the many who will always cherish his memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Kenny Dockery, and Lisa and Champe Holman; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Tammy Epperson; his adored grandchildren, Ryan Holman, Britni Holman, Will Holman, Mason Epperson, and Kyle Epperson; great grandchildren, Harley, Violet and Charles; and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorcus and John Slopey.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Joey Jessup. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mtn. Post 9436 & Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

DENNIS KEVIN BENNETT
Dennis Kevin Bennett, 73, of Patrick Springs, died on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born on July 6, 1945, to the late Mary O’Brien Bennett and Charles A. Bennett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Eilene Mohn Bennett and one brother; Roger Bennett.
He was of the Catholic faith and worked as campus police officer for the College of William and Mary.
Surviving are one sister, Susan (William) Kline of Reading, Pa., several nieces and nephews, and special friends: Kay Hakerem, of Patrick Springs, Mary (Michael) Scott and Emily, Teresa (Michael) Belcher, Glenn (Amanda) Belcher and Gunner, Amanda (Chad) Hughes and Kadence, brother-in-law; Chuck Mohn of Pa. and two beloved Yorkies, Eden and Henry.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Keith Vernon officiating. Family will receive visitors 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Our Savior Lutheran Church Cemetery on November 2, 2018, in Williamsburg, Va.
A graveside service will be held on Friday November 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Va.

AUSTIN “WADE” LITTLES
Austin “Wade” Littles, age 66, of Patrick Springs, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at home. He was born on December 11, 1951, in Bluefield, W. Va., to the late Robert and Maude Littles. He loved camping, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Mae Littles; one sister and three brothers.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Littles and wife, Rebecca, of Patrick Springs; step son, John Lawson, of Martinsville; step daughter, Rachel Kirchner, of Cana, and Teddy McAlexander, whom he considered a son, of Stuart; four sisters, Gladys Wiess, of Woolwine, Faye Estep, of Axton, Anna Estep, of Axton, and Elizabeth Padgett, of Critz; four step granddaughters, Samantha Spence, Emma McDowell, Casie Lawson and Catherine Oliver; one great granddaughter; one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private memorial service to be determined by the family.

JIMMY MONROE WOODS
Jimmy Monroe Woods passed away, Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at his home. He was born November 27, 1950, in Stokes County, N.C. to the late Noel Monroe and Beatrice Ann McHone Woods. He was a loving brother, son, and uncle, and was a hard working diesel mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Terry Woods.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer (Andre) Nordbladh; brother, Bruce (Bridgett) Woods; sisters, Eula Mae (Berkley) Owens and Joy (Charles) Cauley; special friend, Glenda Neeley; a nephew and several nieces.
