LILLIAN W. BELCHER
Lillian Wood Belcher, age 93, of Woolwine, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at her home.
She was born in Patrick County on July 4, 1924 to the late Rufus V. and Bertha E. Boyd Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Warren “Sam” Belcher; a grandson, Warren Taylor Belcher; a son-in-law, Lawrence Lee “Larry” Brannon; her stepmother, Annie Pratt Wood; five brothers, George, Edd, Benton, Harless and Jerry Wood; and a sister, Martha W. Belcher.
She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. She loved quilting and was a member of Smith River Ladies Auxiliary.Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Vernon Harris of Stuart and Faye Brannon of Meadows of Dan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Ann Belcher of Stuart; Ellis and Jeanette Belcher of Woolwine, and Benton and Jennifer Belcher of Stuart; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Claudine Wood of Meadows of Dan and Helena Belcher of Woolwine; and a special caregiver, Heather Meredith.Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21 at 2 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Melton and Pastor Freddie Bonds officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

THELMA F. CONNER
Thelma Margaret Foley Conner, lovingly known as “Grandmommy” to her family, age 91, of Roanoke, passed away on October 20, 2017, at Our Lady of the Valley in Roanoke.
Born in Patrick County on July 20, 1926, she was a daughter of the late James Edgar Foley Sr. and the late Lucy Bowling Foley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, L. Moir Conner; four brothers, William Clyde Foley, James Edgar “Buck” Foley Jr., Thomas Glen Foley and Rev. Jack Robert Foley; and two sisters, Helen Foley Cooper and Mary Ruth Morrison.
She was a strong and loving person who worked hard in everything she did. In past years she had worked at Dupont, Crestar Bank, but most of all in the family business where she and Moir were truly life partners in building a successful business in the lumber industry and all the while being a terrific homemaker. There really was not much she could not do or at least give it a hearty try. Grandmommy leaves so many wonderful memories and experiences for her family to cherish forever.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Sonny Smith of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Shannon Duff of Gloucester and Whitney Smith of Roanoke; three great-grandsons, Steven Webb, Shanon Webb and Sidney Webb; four great-granddaughters, Emery Duff, Lyla Duff, Marlee Webb and Londyn Tinsley; one sister, Betty Foley Wood and husband Benton of Stuart; and two brothers, Sam Guy Foley and wife Helen of Stuart and Marvin Ray Foley of Stuart.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Dewayne Troutt officiating. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens.

Words cannot express the thanks and gratitude for her care from the staff of Our Lady of the Valley, which became part of her family as well. It was obvious that you loved her and she loved you. Also the compassion and support shown for Thelma and her family by Good Samaritan Hospice during her last days have been a blessing to all.

JENNIFER A. OUGHTON
Jennifer Ann Oughton, 65, of Stuart, and formerly of New Jersey, died on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
She was born on May 7, 1952, in New Brunswick, N.J. to the late Agnes Oughton Johnson and Jack Johnson.She worked at Lacey Township High School in the cafeteria until her retirement.Surviving are her husband, Robert “Bob” Oughton of the home; one daughter, Heather Peer and husband Kyle of Critz; one son, Dennis Oughton of Stuart; and two grandchildren, Lilly Peer and Sidney Peer.The funeral and burial will be private.Arrangements were by Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory of Stuart.

TRUMAN STONE
Truman Stone, age 72, of Stuart, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, at Sovah Health of Martinsville.
He was born in Henry County on August 20, 1945. He had retired from Stanley Furniture with over 40 years of service and was currently working for STEP. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and attended New Hope Church of the Brethren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Silas Stone.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Hubbard Stone of the home; one son, Robert Stone of Bassett; two daughters, Lavonda Foley of Lumberton, N.C., and Deanna Edwards of Martinsville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Jacqueline Thompson Stone of Bassett; four sisters, Ellen Ingram, Sandra Stone, Kay Smith and Becky Foley, all of Bassett; three brothers, L.B. Stone of Stuart, and Randy Stone and Dwayne Stone, both of Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 20, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastors Rick Randall and Danny Gilley, and Jared Smith officiating. Burial was in the Blackberry Baptist Church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

PATRICIA A. WOOD
Patricia Ann Wood, 61, of Stuart, died on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.
She was born on July 9, 1956, in Patrick County to the late Ruby Cook and Esmond Wood.She was a social worker and a paralegal. She graduated from Patrick Henry Community College and East Tennessee State University. She attended Providence United Methodist Church in Patrick Springs.Surviving are her daughter, Emily Wood of Stuart; stepmother, Pauline Wood; two nieces, Christy Greco and Kim Terry; and two great nephews.The funeral will be held at Providence United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 28, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Keith Vernon officiating.
