The Varsity Baseball Team travelled to Bassett on Monday, May 10, suffering a 0-12 loss.

Lane Taylor got the start on the mound and went 3 1/3 innings. Kase Leftwich threw 3 innings on the mound in relief.

Camden Nowlin, Carson Merriman, and Grayson Howell all had 1 hit each.

Coach Tal Swails said, “I was disappointed with the way we played all around. I felt like we came out with no fire and just muddled through the game, and the outcome showed it.”

The Cougars hosted Magna Vista on Friday, May 14, losing 5-9.

Garrett Leftwich got the start on the mound and went 3 innings. Tucker Swails threw 3 innings in relief and Lane Taylor threw the 7th inning.

The Cougars had 7 hits, led by Nash Thompson who went 3-3 with 2 RBIs. Jai Penn was 2-3 with 2 RBIs.  Grayson Howell and Lane Taylor picked up one hit each.

“We gave up 5 in the top of the 1st and just had to play catch-up the entire day,” Swails said. “We battled back and cut it to 6-5 in the 6th, but we gave up a couple in the 7th that finished us.”
