The Chronicle of Higher Education released the names of 79 colleges in the nation that have been recognized as “Great Colleges to Work For.” Patrick Henry Community College was one of the colleges honored with this unique distinction. The 79 colleges were chosen according to a survey of 221 colleges and universities. Results are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with PHCC included among the small colleges.
In a statement, Dr. Godwin, president of PHCC, said PHCC has “a passion about our mission to serve our regions, realizing that all our residents are either students or potential students. We take the ‘community’ part of our name very seriously in recognizing that the economic well-being and quality of life of our community must be in alignment with our purpose.”
PHCC won honors in two specific categories this year Confidence in Senior Leadership and Job Satisfaction. The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
“It delights me that our college has been recognized for being a strong community for our employees. Truly, this is meaningful distinction,” says Belinda Stockton, PHCC’s Human Resource Director. “This recognition is a result of PHCC employees responding to a survey delivered by ModernThink.
