The Patrick Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), a 501c3 nonprofit, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
So far in 2020, PAWS’ Spay Neuter Voucher Program has paid 100 percent of the cost to spay and neuter 100 dogs. Adoptees may select from among the four veterinarians in different areas that PAWS partners with to determine their preference.
Applications for the program are opened monthly with an announcement on the agency’s Facebook page at PAWS Patrick Va. When 30 vouchers are issued, the post is pulled until the following month.
However, the agency always welcomes requests for vouchers. Those interested may call a message line at (276) 694-2378 and leave their name and phone number, or they may email paws_pres@yahoo.com. The spay/neuter program is limited to dogs only.
Cat owners interested in the service may call Clover Cat Rescue, which offers a spay/neuter program for cats, at (276) 694-3598 or email clovercatrescue@yahoo.com.
