The Patrick County 4-H Marksmen recently traveled to Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox, Virginia on Saturday, July 12th to take part in the 2025 Central District Shooting Education Competition. Seventeen 4-H shooting clubs from around the state attended, with more than 120 youth competing in six different events. Competing for the Patrick County 4-H Marksmen were Landon Alderman, Chase Cobler, Abby Corrier, Levi Corriher, Brantley Fortner, Lucas Hartman, Evelyn Hayes, Eamon Owens, Reagan Underwood, Cooper Wikstrom, and Macie Whitlock.

*Air Pistol PPP Basic Supported Individual: Case Cobler, 1st place
*Air Pistol PPP International Standing Individual: Eamon Owens, 5th place

The Patrick County 4-H Marksmen use shooting as a vehicle to teach youth ages 9-19 life skills such as responsibility, self-discipline, and teamwork through skills learned in archery, muzzle loading, pistol, rifle, and shotgun. Through these disciplines, youth also learn firearm safety and marksmanship. Thanks to our generous supporters American Legion Post 105 and Meadows of Dan Veterans of Foreign Wars.
