The PCHS Boys Basketball hosted Floyd County for their opening game on January 29, taking a 44-76 loss.
The Cougars were able to keep the game close for a while, only trailing 13-20 at the end of the 1st quarter. But the Buffaloes had the advantage of having several games under their belts, while the Cougars hadn’t been able to even practice in over two weeks.
The Cougars were able to get 8 steals but turned the ball over 22 times.
Desmond McClain led the Cougars with 11 points, 3 steals, 1 assist, and 1 rebound. Sophomores Kailer Hable and Jalen Hagwood were a big presence for the Cougars. Hable had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals while Hagwood had 8 points, 6 from behind the arc, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal. Ben Hylton, Dae’Shawn Penn, and Nash Thompson added 4 points each for Patrick County.
