PCHS Volleyball season
begins with wins, losses

The Patrick County Varsity Volleyball team started the season with a loss to North Stokes in five sets on August 26. With scores of 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 25-22, 10-15, it could have gone either way.
The Cougars had 41 kills, 39 assists, 15 aces, and 85 digs.
According to Coach Heidi Moore “Our player of the game would be Lauren Largen for her extreme effort on the court.”
The Lady Cougar JV team took the win in two sets, beating North Stokes 25-18 and 25-23. The team averaged a total of 18 killswith 16 assists. The Lady Cougars also had 22 digs and 14 aces during match.
In a home game on Aug. 28, the Varsity Lady Cougar Volleyball Team lost to Floyd in three sets. The scores were 14-25, 11-25, and 18-25. The Cougars had 13 kills, 13 assists,and 21 digs as a team. The JV Lady Cougars lost in two sets with scores of 11-25 and 22-25. The team hadnine kills, eight assists, five aces, and 11 digs during the match.
The Varsity Cougars lost to Carroll County August 29 on the road with scores of 8-25, 23-25, 22-25. The team had 19 kills, 18 assists, and 44 digs. The player of the game was Caroline Vernon. The JV team lost the match in two sets 18-25 and 23-25. The team had 18 digs, 15 kills, and 14 assists for the entire match.
Both JV and Varsity will be hosting North Stokes Wednesday, September 4, at home.
