Norma Bozenmayer demonstrates shaping clay into bowls as members watch. Bowls will be used for the Empty Bowl community soup supper in March

The Patrick County Retired Teachers Association held a regular meeting Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Landmark Center.  President Betty Perry presided at the  meeting.

The welcome was given by Phyllis Eastridge and blessing by Penny Runge. A necrology service was given for Paula Pendleton, past PCRTA member who passed away.  Reports were given on attending school board meetings, food drive, PARC Workshop picnic, and visit to Developmental Center. Upcoming events were the trip to Patrick Henry Community College to see “Christmas  Spectacular” presented by Patriot Players and the Christmas Social scheduled for December 9.  The program for the meeting was making bowls to be used for the Empty Bowl event, a community soup meal to be held March 24 at Rotary Field with proceeds helping to support the food bank. Norma Bozenmeyer demonstrated shaping the clay and making different designs on the clay. The next step is the firing of the bowls in a kiln and later the glazing, both done by Bozenmeyer. Members made approximately 25 bowls. Marceia Bartlett presented the door prize to Norma Bozenmeyer.
