We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of our annual popcorn fund-raiser for Cub Scouts.
The Cub Scout popcorn sale is still popping;
The annual popcorn sale is the largest fund-raiser of the year for Cub Scout Packs and all proceeds are used to help Scouts go to camp, earn merit badges and participate in Scouting activities.
The popcorn sale canvases the entire state of Virginia and of course is taking place right here in Patrick County and surrounding communities too. Scouts participate by setting personal financial goals which will help them supplement the cost of their equipment, activities and camping fees. In fact, 70% of the popcorn proceeds directly support the local Scouting program.
Beyond financial responsibility, there are many other positives lessons that the Scouts learn. Popcorn sales are also designed to teach salesmanship skills, communication skills and budgeting.
Even though this is a long running classic sale, the Council has added a few new twists. In addition to the traditional popcorn flavor line-up like butter and butter light microwave, the products have some newer tastes for the more progressive palates. When you see our Scouts, make sure to ask him about one of the new flavors.
If popcorn isn’t your choice for snacking, customers also have the option of sending popcorn treats to U.S. troops stationed all over the world.
The scouts are wrapping up the fund-raiser on Friday, October 28. If you haven’t seen a Scout at your doorstep or in front of our local market and want to support the local Scouts with a popcorn purchase, please feel free to contact parents or local Pack leaders:
George Stovall, Mary Handy, Sandra Heath, Tiffany Stovall, Randy Knight or Crystal Fain at 694-3121.
Thank you.
