Mountain Valley Hospice recently announced its palliative care services were accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).
To become accredited, healthcare organizations must demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation by ACHC shows an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that promote a higher level of performance and patient care.
ACHC is a prestigious, not-for-profit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. ACHC is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has CMS Deeming Authority for Home Health, Hospice and DMEPOS.
Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, which serves 17 counties in Northwest Carolina and Southern Virginia, offers inpatient and outpatient palliative care consultation services for expert management of uncontrolled symptoms. Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with a serious or terminal illness. It is focused on providing patients with relief from the symptoms and stress associated with their illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and their family. Palliative care is included with hospice, but it is not limited to patients with a life expectancy of six months or less. It can be provided along with curative treatments.
