Ms. (Fran) Martin wrote two entire letters in reply to my earlier letter and never once mentioned PREVENTION of pregnancy. Apparently she feels the only thing to do is to wait until they show up pregnant at the clinic with an unplanned child.
We can see how well that is working. Highest rates of divorce are among those who married/had babies young. High rates of single motherhood who are more likely to live in poverty. Children raised in young single parent homes have a higher likelihood of problems than those raised in two parent homes.
Why is there no concern for the entire lifespan of both mothers and children? Why wait until young women are already pregnant to become so concerned?
Again, teaching young women (and men) to plan for their children will prevent more abortion than outlawing ever will.
