On a blustery spring day the Patrick County Retired Teachers were invited by the Radford University Department of Education and Human Development to spend an afternoon touring the campus grounds and visiting many of their recently added facilities.
Included in the tour was one of the older dorms, Norwood Hall, where Jessie Mae Vernon lived before she graduated from there in 1940.
Dr. Kenna Cauley, dean of the Department of Education and Human Development, along with her faculty and students treated the retired teachers to refreshments and chauffuered them from door to door on speedy little golf carts
All the teachers were Radford graduates except one (Carol Vernon graduated from James Madison University). All those attending noted many, many changes since they had been enrolled there.
