Robert Lee “Tobe” Shelton, age 72, of Stuart, died on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center.
He was born in Henry County on December 29, 1943 and was a son of the late Bud Shelton and Nellie Hubbard Shelton. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Shelton; a sister, Mary Bowman; and two infant sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Belva Mae Williams Shelton of Spencer; three sons, James Shelton of Eden, N.C., Daniel Shelton of Spencer, and Christopher Shelton of Staunton; five grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Pace of Spencer, and Jane Shelton of Elizabeth City, N.C.; five brothers, Roger Shelton of Stuart, Cecil Shelton of Martinsville, David Shelton of Ridgeway, Larry Shelton of Spencer, and Jack Shelton of Bassett; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Christian Church with Pastors Butch Dillinger and Kenneth McFarling officiating.
