Ruth Edna Roark Handy, 82, of Stuart passed away on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at her home. She was born on August 8, 1938 in Patrick County, Va to the late Hadie Hutchens Roark and Clyde Roark. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Bruce Handy, one sister; Ilene Pittis, two brothers; Jesse Roark, Herman Roark and one twin brother; Raford Roark.
She was a member of Critz Baptist Church, loved working in her flowers, she was still mowing her own yard, she enjoyed working in Patrick County food bank. She was known for her chocolate and coconut cream pies. She was a devoted member of Critz Baptist Church, loving mother, she cared for her neighbors and was a friend to all who knew her. She was known as the team mother of the Virginia/Carolina baseball teams.
Surviving are two sons, Wendell Handy (Carolyn) of Stuart, VA, Tim Handy (Shelia) of Fayetteville, NC, and one grandchild; Heather Handy.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday February 13, 2021 at Norris Funeral Services with Alan Vass officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Norris Funeral Chapel.
Due to covid-19 outbreak, all restrictions mandated by the guidelines set forth by the state must be followed.
