Samuel David “Sammy” Martin, age 75, of Stuart, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on March 10, 1941, and was a son of the late John D. and Mary Williams Martin.
He was a member of Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud lifetime member of VFW Post 7800.
Surviving are one son, S. David Martin Jr. and wife Donna of Stuart; one daughter, Mary Beth Clement and husband Stanley of Danville; two grandchildren, Logan Martin and Jacob Martin; one sister, Sandra “Cookie” Mahony and husband John of Shelton, Conn.; and best friend, Jack “Red Head” Williams.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Ricky Burnette officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery located at the homeplace. Military rites were conducted by the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard.
