Samuel Wayne “Sammy” Coleman, 67, of Spencer, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on March 6, 1952 to the late Robert Leonard Coleman and Barbara Ella Hughes Coleman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Coleman and a sister, Brenda Kaye Coleman Swisher. He had served in the United States Army, enjoyed farming, and had worked for J.C. Joyce Trucking and Paving for almost 43 years.
Mr. Coleman is survived by a step-son, Chris Coleman of Virginia; a step-grandson; eight siblings and their spouses, Janet Martin and husband, Lou of Kannapolis, N.C., Faye Fain and husband, Lowell of Dry Pond, Whitey Coleman and wife, Mary Ann of Fieldale, Judy Murphy and husband, David of Martinsville, Jean Bowman and husband, Harry Lee of Ararat, Jimmy Coleman and wife, Karen of Sandy Ridge, N.C., Gail Martin of Greensboro, N.C. and Jeffery Coleman of Sandy Ridge, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Coleman were held Wednesday, March 13 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
