Registration is currently open for all students for Surry Community College’s first Nurse Aide I Refresher course.
The Nurse Aide I Refresher course is designed to update individuals who were listed on the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) Nurse Aide I Registry, but have let their certification lapse. This course can also serve as an update for nurse aides who have let their listing expire in another state and now seek employment as a nurse aide in North Carolina.
Individuals enrolled in the course will review the knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be demonstrated on the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) Examination, and upon satisfactory completion, should be able to sit for the NNAAP Exam. Successful completion of this exam will allow students to be listed on the North Carolina DHSR Nurse Aide I Registry.
In order to enroll, interested parties must have a prior listing on the North Carolina DHSR Nurse Aide I Registry or prior listing as a nurse aide in another state. Certification may not have expired more than 48 months ago. Students will be required to bring proof of certification to the first Nurse Aide I Refresher class.
The class will meet July 13 through August 8 on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 9:45 p.m. in room J-213 on SCC’s campus, 630 S. Main Street, Dobson, N.C. Class tuition is $126, and there is a $101 test fee required when students take their competency exam.
Potential students may seek more information on the DHSR website at www.ncnar.org. For questions and registration, contact Margie Collins at (336) 386-3423 or collinsmh@surry.edu.
