Surry Community College will host an art show on Sunday, May 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Pilot Center, 612 E. Main St., Pilot Mountain, N.C.
The show will feature original works from students enrolled in SCC’s Continuing Education Oil Painting classes. The show is free and open to the public.
SCC has offered art classes in Pilot Mountain since the 1980s and continues to provide opportunities from novice artists to experts. For many years, the Charles Stone Memorial Library, where oil paintings classes are held, has been the location for the annual showcase, but with the opening of The Pilot Center in 2010, the show moved to the center in 2011.
Located in the old Amos-Smith mill, Surry’s Pilot Center creates the ambiance of a cosmopolitan gallery with its original maple floors and whitewashed brick walls. Students’ paintings will be displayed throughout the beautiful space.
Oil painting instructor Linda Beroth has taught Surry Continuing Education classes since 1991, and due to tremendous popularity, leads three classes per week each fall and spring.
