Retirees from Patrick County Public Schools were recognized at the June school board meeting. The board also recognized Dr. William D. Sroufe for his years of service as superintendent.
Retiring school personnel/teachers recognized for their service included:
Frances Shelton with 42 years of service; Robert Goad with six years of service; Tina Conner with 36 years of service; William Nunn with 21 years of service; Annie Reynolds with 28 years of service; Wilma Pack with 37 years of service; Reva Pierce with 11 years of service; Deborah Boyd with 31 years of service; Ken Terry with six years of service.
Retirees were presented with plaques to commemorate their service with Patrick County Public Schools.
“It’s been a pleasure to work in Patrick County schools for this many years. I’ve made a good career for myself and I think a good retirement,” Conner said.
The board also presented Sroufe with awards in appreciation for his 13 years of service in Patrick County Public Schools. Sroufe served as superintendent of schools for five years and was a school principal before he was named superintendent. He will begin his tenure as superintendent of Colonial Heights Schools on July 1.
Dr. David Martin was named acting superintendent in Patrick. His consulting firm also will lead the search for a new superintendent.
The school board also on Thursday voted to move the July meeting from July 11 to July 18 at 6 p.m.
