The second annual Smith River Trout Fishing experience opening weekend was a great success, according to Chris Worley spokesman.
All the sportsman, their wives, kids and grandkids involved had a wonderful time pulling in big ole trout from the river. The Smith River creek banks were filled with smiling faces from the all kids getting to experience what an actual opening day of trout season was like the good ole days.
Darrell Worley organized the event, which was so successful last year there was even more interest this year. He also provided free hamburgers, hotdogs, delicious fresh trout, with all the fixings for lunch for participants at the Smith River Church of the Brethren. More than 50 sportsman helped support the event which made a lot of kids happy. “We want to thank all the landowners which made the event possible. It was very nice of them to allow access thru their property,” Worley said.
We want to thank Ronnie Bolt for allowing special access to the lower basin of the Smith River. We especially want to thank the Smith River Church of the Brethren for allowing us to use their picnic shelter and parking lot. It was very kind gesture and very much appreciated. “Hopefully we will be allowed to do this for years to come as the ‘opening day’ experience is something our children and grandchildren will never forget,” he added.
