Two shoebox recipients will share their story of receiving a shoebox gift as a child.
Dania Yadago will tell her story on Sunday, July 28, at 3 p.m. at the Hooker Memorial Building in Stuart.
Alex Nsengimana will share his story on Sunday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Galax.
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, whose mission is to “demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, and together with the local churches worldwide, to share the good news of Jesus Christ.”
Sharing God’s love and great joy is done through a simple gift-filled shoebox. Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 157 million shoeboxes to over 160 countries in the last 25 years.
The newly developed Crooked Roads OCC team will serve alongside local churches, organization and families in Patrick, Carroll C and Grayson counties and the City of Galax to collect shoeboxes to provide children with possibly their first gift ever. As a team, the OCC will serve and provide resources for individuals, churches and other organizations in any way possible.
The OCC team encourages individuals in the community to join the journey.
