Five hopefuls beat the June 8 deadline to submit the required paperwork and appear on the November ballot.
On the Patrick County Board of Supervisors, Brandon Simmons is seeking the Dan River District seat and Doug Perry is seeking the Smith River District post, according to records in the Patrick County Registrar’s office.
Both are unopposed in their respective bids.
Thomas Chaney is unopposed in his bid for the Dan River District seat on the Patrick County School Board, but voters in the Smith River District will decide between two candidates.
Walter Scott, the incumbent, is seeking reelection. He is being challenged for the post by Caroline Jones.
