Nadine Smith, from Stuart and a teacher at Stuart Elementary, was awarded for Teacher of the Year by VFW Post 8467 on November 14, 2018.
Smith was awarded this for her dedication to her students and innovative teaching strategies. She took students on a trip to Mabry Mill to learn pioneer ways and also makes time to teach her students cursive writing, something that is no longer taught in many class rooms. (Contributed photo.)
