Local fire officials, the American Red Cross and Patrick County Emergency Management are partnering on a Smoke Alarm Campaign, according to Steve Allen, coordinator.
Smoke detectors are the first line of defense in the event of a blaze, Allen said, and added fire officials will work throughout the campaign to provide and install detectors free of charge for local residents in need.
The alarms are being provided by the American Red Cross, Allen said.
