Not sure what to do with the sugared-up kids this Halloween? Turn them loose on Main Street!
Karaoke, lip-syncing, a movie, costume contests, popcorn, games—the little devils are sure to run off that candy corn at the second annual Stuart Spooktacular. Last year, the event drew approximately 400 children.
The Spooktacular runs Monday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. More than 35 businesses and organizations will set up tables—yes, with candy—along Main Street. In the parking lot behind Schneider & Williams law firm will be the Abiding Grace Family Worship Center’s children area with inflatables and games.
Keep an ear out, and a camera handy: the costume contest categories include adults and pets.
At the top of Main Street, near the post office, performers of all ages can strut along Mattie B’s inflatable catwalk to show off their lip-syncing skills and karaoke. The lip-sync starts at 6 p.m.; karaoke at 7.
And when the short ones can’t run any longer, everyone can enjoy a moment’s peace with an outdoor screen showing of the 1993 Disney film “Hocus Pocus,” starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Omri Katz.
Main Street restaurants El Rancho and Honduras will both be open and serving from their full menus. Plus, the Texas BBQ Smoke Wagon food truck will be on hand.
Main Street will be closed starting at 5 p.m. Area traffic will be routed down Slusher and Rye Cove streets. Parking is available near the county administration building.
The Spooktacular is sponsored by the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce, Rotary of Patrick County, Patrick County Young Professionals and Abiding Grace Family Worship Center.
Spaces still available are still available by calling (276) 694-2455.
