Plans are underway for the 2017 Virginia State Peach Festival and you’re invited to participate.
The festival begins at 4 p.m. on Aug. 18. Organizers hope to double the 3,000-person record of those attending the fest last year and continue the festival’s tradition of being the largest single day event in the county. Admission to the festival is free, but sponsors are needed.
The festival includes a star-studded musical line-up built around this year’s theme: “Return to Our Roots.”
Three incredible performers will help do just that, with regional favorites Slick Jr., and Phonic 45 scheduled to perform, and the Legendary Foddrells to headline. The Foddrells have been local legends for more than 60 years.
The festival also will feature an expanded area for youngsters, a new beer garden, a new vendor lineup, and of course, peaches.
The event will be held at Wayside Park in Stuart. Camping is available for $20 per night by calling 276-692-4149.
