- PCHS Boys Lose to Chatham
The Cougars lost 33-59 to the Chatham Cavaliers on Monday, Jan. 6.
- Lady Cougars get easy win at Bassett
The Lady Cougars traveled to Bassett Thursday, Jan. 9 to take on the Lady Bengals. The Cougars got on the board quickly and never looked back as they cruised to a 48-10 win. Sierra Hubbard led the Cougars with 16 points, six rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Missy Hazard was hot behind the three-point line, scoring nine of her 11 points behind the arc. Hazard also had two assists, two steals, and one rebound. Coach Donny Rakes said, “It was a good team win for our kids. Everyone got a lot of minutes, and that is always a good thing. We shot the 3-ball well and looked for each other. Excellent effort by our kids. I’m proud of that.” This brings the Lady Cougars to 6-4 on the season.
- PCHS Boys Varsity fall to Magna Vista
The Patrick County Boys Varsity team travelled to Ridgeway on Friday, Jan. 10 to take on the Magna Vista Warriors. The Warriors had a 21-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and went into the locker room at halftime with a 45-17 advantage. Magna Vista was aggressive all night, pulling down 43 rebounds and forcing 21 turnovers and taking an easy 76-33 win over the Cougars. Austin Walter had 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one block for Patrick County. Jalen Hagwood added nine points and five rebounds, and Desmond McClain had six points and one rebound.
