Twelve employees at STEP, Inc. were recognized recently for their years of service to the agency.

Awards include one given posthumously to Truman Stone, who passed just prior to the service award presentation. Those receiving service awards (listed with their hometowns) are:

Daphney Hancock, Head Start manager, Rocky Mount, 40 years; Leon Hodges, maintenance supervisor, Ferrum, 25 years; Shirley Wells, Early Childhood Education director, Axton, 20 years; Angie Cockerham, infant/toddler teacher, Stuart, 10 years;

Five year award winners Doris Fain, senior services director, Stuart; Eddie Fisher, Head Start bus driver, Rocky Mount; Jimmy Layman, senior transportation driver, Stuart; Brittany Massey, kitchen aid,  Stuart; Bob Osgood, senior meals driver, Rocky Mount; Ann Shumate, senior meals program/coordinator, Stuart; Steve Spencer, Early Head Start bus driver, Rocky Mount; and Truman Stone, senior transportation driver, Stuart.
